The Crew

Hi, we are Mark and Rebecca McShane.
We are Canadians, born and bred in Halifax, Nova Scotia. We met when we were teenagers and our families attended the same church. After four years of dating and a year engagement we ran off to Coco Beach, Florida with our family and a couple of friends and got married.
Six months after that the whirl wind started, Mark went off and joined that navy, after months of basic training we were posted to Victoria, BC where a year later our first "infink" was born.
Years of moving and deployments, renovating houses, lots of pets and 2 more kiddos added to the gang we've found ourselves stationed on Whidbey Island, Washington and just bought our first sailboat.
Our life long dream of owning a sailboat, living on a sailboat, cruising around North America, the Caribbean and eventually around the world. We haven't figured the logistics of all this yet. When we'll go, how we'll afford it, how three kids and I can do it alone for extended periods while my husband has to work and join us when he can? But all these things will work themselves out, first step is done, boat is acquired, everything else will follow.

  2. I'm so glad I found you're blog! We're in the same "boat" so to speak. :) We're in Kirkland, working on getting the cruising life planned. How close are you guys? When do you think you'll take off? Let me know if you're ever down toward Kirkland, I'd love to grab lunch or coffee! -Devon

    1. I'm glad you found us too, it's always nice to know people in the planning stage, most sailing blogs are well on their journey. We don't have a specific date set, but our tentative goal is next July. Our boat does need a ton of work and we seem to be moving at snail pace, but we,re not fussy about making it fancy and pretty, as long as it works we,re good :) how about you guys? What's your plans? I'd love to see pics of your boat. Definitely, next time we are down that way we will get together!
